CEO Robbie Briggs, on the new luxury of living with great food and wine

Each Friday, Robbie Briggs, CEO of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty, writes about luxury, trends, business and more in the advertising pages of the Mansion section of The Wall Street Journal. Below is his letter of November 19, 2021.

FROM MY PERSPECTIVE

Let’s face it: Food and wine are sexy.

Today, chefs are the rock stars of their generations. Here in North Texas, pros such as Tiffany Derry, Tim Love and Junior Borges — and icons Stephan Pyles, Kent Rathbun and Dean Fearing — command every bit as much national attention as local celebrities Angie Harmon, Mark Cuban and Owen Wilson. The superstar chefs across Dallas and Fort Worth have made the region a real destination for great food.

We certainly have the homes for it. In houses with chef-grade kitchens and amazing wine rooms, North Texans are showing their love of food and wine. So many of the homes we represent have jaw-dropper kitchens, with multiple ovens, multiple stoves and specialty appliances for gourmet exploration. Wine rooms are the new must-haves, too, from rustic ones with stone and wood to glassy ones with contemporary art and sleek wine racks.

I want to bring your attention to just three of our current listings made for mouthwatering food and drink.

4618 Cherokee Trail in Dallas: This stunner feels like a Mediterranean villa in Santa Barbara, and it has a subterranean wine room straight out of a magazine: arched brick ceiling; Old World chandelier; and custom racks for 2,000 bottles.

HALL Arts Residences: Every home in this exquisite high-rise in downtown Dallas has access to the building’s wine-focused features: private bottle lockers for each residence; a cork-walled dining room with wood-slab table; and a more intimate glass-walled tasting room with a marble-topped table.

Dolce Vita Ranch in Weatherford: On 130 acres, the Italianate ranch house here has a stone-lined stairway down to a large underground wine cellar with its own climate controls, beamed wood ceiling, shelves for 3,700 bottles and space for a big tasting table in the middle.

It’s a gourmand’s place, this North Texas. Come explore our listings with unbelievable kitchens and wonderful wine rooms, all at briggsfreeman.com. They represent the new luxury of living with great food and drink.

It’s a delicious notion, isn’t it?
