Each Friday, Russ Anderson, the president and CEO of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty and the president and CEO of Pacific Sotheby's International Realty, writes about luxury, trends, business and more in the advertising pages of the Mansion section of The Wall Street Journal. Below is his letter of August 22, 2025.
FROM THE PRESIDENT'S P.O.V.
In just one month, hundreds of agents from around the Sotheby’s International Realty network will be mixing it up right here in Dallas. They can partake in custom boots and bespoke 10-gallon hats. And they will thrill to some very artful cowboys wielding lassos — among many other delights.
But the real reasons the advisors are coming go much deeper than a little glitz and glam. They are coming to trade ideas and stories. There will be seminars and workshops and mentors to learn from. There will be a special focus on building relationships, with each other and with their clients. Bottom line: They are coming to better their business — which is better for you.
It’s called the Texas Networking Event and there is nothing like it. The extravaganza is hosted by three of the Sotheby’s International Realty affiliates in the Lone Star State: Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty in San Antonio and Austin; Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty in Houston; and Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty in Dallas, Fort Worth and across North Texas.
Working together is a hallmark of the most powerful global network in real estate — a network that sold an exceptional $157 billion in properties last year. Because we’re all part of it — 1,100 offices in 84 countries and territories — our agents have made genuine, lifelong friendships with their peers in all kinds of places, which means you will get the same level of information, advice and service that they always give you. We trust other Sotheby’s International Realty agents completely — and that’s a great feeling.
Believe me, agents who are this connected, thoughtful and successful are exactly who you want handling your real estate transactions.
And, if they’re wearing a fancy cowboy hat, even better.
