Each Friday, Robbie Briggs, CEO of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty, writes about luxury, trends, business and more in the advertising pages of the Mansion section of The Wall Street Journal. Below is his letter of November 12, 2021.
FROM MY PERSPECTIVE
Our agents and our brokerage are keenly focused on helping people who need a shelter or a home.
In my mind, that’s because we’re all lucky to have one.
Though they give of their time and money all year long, our agents go into overdrive at the holidays — helping charities that help so many who need food, shelter, clothing or care. (Or, all of it.)
Here are just some of the things that the best agents in the business are involved in:
Food drives in all our offices. From November 15 through 30, we’re having generous North Texans drop off dry goods that we’ll deliver to food banks and pantries across the area. (If you’d like to help, our addresses are at the ‘About Us’ tab on briggsfreeman.com.)
Salvation Army Angel Trees. This is a tradition at our brokerage: shopping for new clothes and toys so that families in need can give their kids a little magic at Christmas. We’ve helped more than 500 families so far, and we wish we could help 5,000 more. Check out the program at salvationarmyntx.org.
Homes for those who don’t have one. Sotheby’s International Realty® is a partner with New Story, a forward-thinking charity that builds communities of modest houses — some that are 3D-printed right on the site — that represent hope, security and a future for the families who move into them. It is a remarkable project, one that has built more than 2,000 homes in four countries. Read all about it at newstorycharity.org.
Our own Love Your Neighbors program. This one is really special to me. Love Your Neighbors is our own giving-back program, funded by our agents who voluntarily donate a portion of every sales commission. Thanks to them — and you — Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty makes cash donations several times each year to area charities and initiatives, and our agents volunteer at many of them all year long.
I’m telling you: This is one giving group. Drop me a line if you’d like to help us help some neighbors — especially at this crucial time of year.
