How even real estate agents can benefit from a change of address, now and then

Each Friday, Robbie Briggs, CEO of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty, writes about luxury, trends, business and more in the advertising pages of the Mansion section of The Wall Street Journal. Below is his letter of April 30, 2021.

FROM MY PERSPECTIVE

In life — and in business — a change of scenery can really change your perspective.

That’s why we’ve been shaking things up and moving some of our offices. Yesterday, we opened our new space in Fort Worth, along the brick-paved — and beloved — part of Camp Bowie Boulevard. The new street-level digs are much more accessible for our agents, who are always on the go. It’s got open spaces, an integrated training room, a café and even a patio for al-fresco brainstorming. Come have a look: It’s at 4828 Camp Bowie Boulevard.

In January, we opened our relocated office in Plano, now in the busy Shops at Legacy. Here, too, we created a ground-floor haven for our agents, with a dynamic floor plan that fosters much more interaction. And, being along those bustling sidewalks means our agents are more visible than ever. It’s a beauty, at 7301 Lone Star Drive, Suite A-115.

In December 2019, we cut the ribbons on a new flagship in Dallas — two full floors of a glassy midcentury office tower along Turtle Creek, with flowing spaces, lots of glass-walled meeting areas and a lounge that has become a hub of activity. (I think the NASA-like coffee machine may have something to do with that.)

Our special technologies — for our agents and our clients — have changed a lot of how we do business, and all of our offices reflect those new ways of working. They’re more open, more collaborative and more efficiently sized. Big, bright TV screens beam all kinds of helpful messages and reminders, plus beautiful properties for sale from across the Sotheby’s International Realty network. There are friendly staffers to greet everyone, and to help with all kinds of needs.

But, no matter which of our offices they’re based in — Fort Worth, Plano, Dallas, Southlake or Lakewood — our agents are the best feature. Our secret sauce. No fancy TVs or coffee machines come close to the magic they make, every day — no matter if they’re working from a fun office, their own home or anywhere in between.
