4 Best Fort Worth Neighborhoods Based on Schools

If youre planning on becoming a parent or already have school-aged children (or soon-to-be), choosing a neighborhood with highly respected schools is but one way you can make your life a little easier all while laying the foundation for a top-notch education. Before you start your home search, browse through these five highly coveted Fort Worth neighborhoods featuring public schools with five-star rankings from the website SchoolDigger

You can always find detailed, up-to-date information about schools in every neighborhood at Briggs Freeman Sothebys International Realty, but weve made it easy to make education a top priority in your hunt for your next dream house. Study the list and click on the links for extra research. (But dont worry. There will not be a quiz at the end.)

1. Downtown Fort Worth

The Downtown Fort Worth district offers a remarkable juxtaposition of cultures within its borders, from cosmopolitan high-rises and skyscrapers to the living history of the Old West at the Fort Worth Stockyards. The mixture of new and old can be found in the homes throughout the neighborhood, too, with historic restorations mingling seamlessly with contemporary developments. In addition to the stockyards, downtown residents have the privilege of easy access to the shops, entertainment, restaurants and bars of Sundance Square

As for schools, young girls have a distinct advantage with a downtown Fort Worth address with access to the Fort Worth Independent School Districts Young Womens Leadership Academy, serving students in sixth grade through senior year. With only 12 students on average per class, it also boasts a ranking in the top 100 of all Texas high schools.

2. North Richland Hills

Often ranked one of the best places to live in North Texas, this Fort Worth suburb has convenient access to both Fort Worth and Arlington and the many recreational, cultural and sporting opportunities available between them. The suburban feel provides a sense of small-town community without sacrificing any of the perks of living in a large city, such as crave-worthy local eateries, plenty of lush green spaces and, of course, first-class schools. For elementary and middle-school-aged kids, the options are plentiful with Green Valley Elementary and Smithfield Elementary in the Birdville ISD, and Liberty Elementary in the Keller ISD, as well as Smithfield Middle and Indian Springs Middle for sixth-through-eighth-grade students, each of the five with lower-than-average student-teacher ratios.

3. Rivercrest

Magnificent 100-year-old estates highlighted by classic architecture, well-manicured lawns and trees that have been around for generations are but three of the hallmarks of this exclusive neighborhood in West Fort Worth, overlooking the River Crest Country Club. Its also home to one of the top 100 high schools in the Lone Star State: Texas Academy of Biomedical Sciences, located on the grounds of Tarrant County Colleges Trinity River Campus, with a rigorous curriculum for its freshman-to-senior students seeking careers in the demanding fields of biomedical sciences, with hands-on experiences throughout their tenure.

4. Tanglewood

Known for being a safe enclave near a branch of the Trinity River, this southwest Fort Worth neighborhood features numerous parks, cycling and walking paths, and, like so many established areas in these parts, an abundance of majestic trees. Large homes in a variety of styles are the norm when it comes to residences, while easy access to top-quality restaurants and name-brand shopping offer endless convenience. Among the highly regarded schools are the five-star-rated Tanglewood Elementary for pre-kindergarten through the fifth grade and the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts, with an impressive 10:1 student-teacher ratio.
