Each Friday, Russ Anderson, the president and CEO of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty and the president and CEO of Pacific Sotheby's International Realty, writes about luxury, trends, business and more in the advertising pages of the Mansion section of The Wall Street Journal. Below is his letter of May 16, 2025.
FROM THE PRESIDENT'S P.O.V.
I bet you’ve never heard of an open house like this one.
This weekend, homes around the world are going to open for exploring — from Colorado to Canada to Courchevel, France. And, yes, many will be open across North Texas, including Fort Worth, Dallas and points beyond.
What’s the occasion? It’s the Open House Showcase by Sotheby’s International Realty, a two-day, global celebration of homes as unique as you are. Whether you’re dreaming, browsing or ready to buy, this Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18, you can discover residences with character, craftsmanship and charm you won’t find anywhere else.
It’s quite an event. About 4,000 homes will be open for touring — from a nearly $60 million Contemporary stunner in Dubai to a historic 1916 home in the Hamptons [above]. In Colorado, you could tour mountain homes in Breckenridge, Crested Butte and Castle Rock. In New Mexico, doors will be open across Santa Fe.
But, brace yourself: Here in North Texas, we’re opening dozens of homes, at all price points, all the way up to nearly $6 million. The latter is an Asian-inspired beauty in Dallas [pictured at top of story] that channels the colonial homes of Sri Lanka, India and Singapore. We’re opening several homes at HALL Arts Residences, the premier tower in the Dallas Arts District. In Fort Worth, we have Contemporaries and Traditionals ready to be seen.
What’s your fancy? A rural retreat? A high-rise? A great home in the suburbs? Your one awaits — and it could be anywhere. I bet you’ll find it at sothebysrealty.com/openhouse.
