Warmed Floors, an Elevator Just for Your Clothes and Every Need Anticipated: What $32.5 Million Lives Like

Ceiling with Chandelier Each Friday, Russ Anderson, the president and CEO of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty and the president of Pacific Sotheby's International Realty writes about luxury, trends, business and more in the advertising pages of the Mansion section of The Wall Street Journal. Below is his letter of March 21, 2025.

FROM THE PRESIDENT'S P.O.V.

“Home isn’t a place. It’s a feeling.”

The novelist Cecelia Ahern must’ve visited 4000 Euclid Avenue, too. I’ve had the privilege of having many feelings — including awe — inside one of the most lovingly thought-out and painstakingly built homes in the world. It just happens to be here in Texas, minutes from downtown Dallas.

The home almost defies description. It is the centerpiece of a large and lush lot in Dallas’ most desirable neighborhood, Highland Park. It is also a masterpiece of French and Italian design, meticulously crafted over five years and completed in 2015.

4000 Euclid Avenue, Highland Park TXThose feelings I mentioned intensify as soon as you step into the grand foyer. Far overhead, two stories up, is a domed ceiling, lined in glowing, 24-karat gold leaf. It sets a tone that you’ve arrived at another world. You have — and on floors of limestone, reclaimed from French chateaux. That’s the level of no-limits thinking here.

Luxury Sitting RoomI will dash off just a few of the luxuries. A room off the foyer just for having apéritifs. A first-floor primary wing with two bedroom suites, one with a multistory closet with a staircase and a motorized lift just for moving clothes from one floor to the other when the seasons change. There is a guest apartment, two offices and a craft room. Even the sunroom and the outdoor kitchen area have heated floors, just so they’re supremely comfortable any time of year.

Luxury Walk-in ClosetI’ve never experienced a home more considerate. Yes, at more than 24,000 square feet, it is grand, but it is gracious, too. And, at more than $32 million, it is rarefied. But I guarantee this: You will have many special feelings — and moments — here, every single day.
