FROM THE PRESIDENT'S P.O.V.
“Home isn’t a place. It’s a feeling.”
The novelist Cecelia Ahern must’ve visited 4000 Euclid Avenue, too. I’ve had the privilege of having many feelings — including awe — inside one of the most lovingly thought-out and painstakingly built homes in the world. It just happens to be here in Texas, minutes from downtown Dallas.
The home almost defies description. It is the centerpiece of a large and lush lot in Dallas’ most desirable neighborhood, Highland Park. It is also a masterpiece of French and Italian design, meticulously crafted over five years and completed in 2015.
Those feelings I mentioned intensify as soon as you step into the grand foyer. Far overhead, two stories up, is a domed ceiling, lined in glowing, 24-karat gold leaf. It sets a tone that you’ve arrived at another world. You have — and on floors of limestone, reclaimed from French chateaux. That’s the level of no-limits thinking here.
I will dash off just a few of the luxuries. A room off the foyer just for having apéritifs. A first-floor primary wing with two bedroom suites, one with a multistory closet with a staircase and a motorized lift just for moving clothes from one floor to the other when the seasons change. There is a guest apartment, two offices and a craft room. Even the sunroom and the outdoor kitchen area have heated floors, just so they’re supremely comfortable any time of year.
I’ve never experienced a home more considerate. Yes, at more than 24,000 square feet, it is grand, but it is gracious, too. And, at more than $32 million, it is rarefied. But I guarantee this: You will have many special feelings — and moments — here, every single day.
