Each Friday, the executives of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty write about luxury, trends, business and more in the advertising pages of the Mansion section of The Wall Street Journal. Below is CEO Robbie Briggs' letter of September 15, 2023.
FROM MY PERSPECTIVE
Thank you for believing in a world without homelessness.
Together — and that means you, our agents and our Sotheby’s International Realty colleagues around the world — we far surpassed our fundraising goal for New Story, the nonprofit organization that puts 100 percent of its donations toward transforming vulnerable living environments into global communities of safe, sustainable, colorful homes.
For housing in Haiti and Mexico, we had hoped to raise $400,000. We have raised more than $1.5 million.
That has helped nearly 1,000 people move into 200 homes.
Thank you. Global homelessness is expected to grow from 1.6 billion to three billion people by 2030, and your continuing generosity will help build homes in vulnerable communities where locals make less than $10 per day and where there is a lack of safe shelter and access to basic needs. Come see everything New Story is doing, at newstoryhomes.org. It is game-changing.
Here at home, our agents and our brokerage support all kinds of local people and places — everything from food banks and the Salvation Army to area artists and neighborhoods. Here are just some:
A fall food drive: September is Hunger Action Month — and we’re in action. Our brokerage is collecting food to support the North Texas Food Bank. We need your help: Drop off canned and dry foods (check ntfb.org for what they need most) with our friends at Momentous Title, in the lobby of 3131 Turtle Creek Boulevard in Dallas, through September 29.
Lakewood Home Tour: Because we have the agents who are the known experts in this special part of Dallas, we love being a part of this equally famous home tour, which benefits area schools and shows off Lakewood’s unique mix of homes. The next one is November 11 and 12 and all the details are at lecpta.org.
That is just a sampling of the support that our agents and our brokerage are able to give. Come see more at briggsfreeman.com/love. Very often, you are a big part of our efforts.
Thank you for believing in a world without struggle. We’re doing the best we can.
