Designed by famed architect Howard Meyer, this chic, 22-story building is one of the few Modernist high-rises on the National Register of Historic Places. At its opening in 1957, it was heralded as the “tallest, largest and most luxurious apartment building ever erected west of the Mississippi.” Today, the building still attracts VIPs, aesthetes and society types, who enjoy sweeping views of Dallas and amenities that include the glamorous Turtle Room event space, a pool with a waterfall and a guest suite for visitors. The most remarkable and iconic aspect of the 3525 is its earth-toned sunscreen, or brise soleil. Meyer incorporated this ingenious architectural solution — with each pierced panel cleverly engineered to maximize views — to ward off the hot Texas sun.
