Habitat & Topography

Houston County is in the East Texas Timberlands region. The terrain is gently rolling to
hilly, and contains significant forest, mostly loblolly pine and pecan trees. Houston
County covers 1,234 square miles, with elevations ranging from 200 to 300 feet. The
Neches River forms the northeastern boundary of the county, and the Trinity River is the
western boundary. Soils are generally light colored and loamy, with very deep reddish
clayey subsoils. The predominant vegetation is mixed pine and hardwood forests.
Between 21% and 30% of the land in the county is considered prime farmland.

Water & Fishing

Houston County Lake is a spring fed, 1,330-acre lake that is great for swimming,
boating and fishing. The lake was formed in 1966 by a dam on Little Elkhart Creek.
Visitors enjoy the lake's cool spring fed waters as well as the hilly wooded terrain. The
lack of crowds allows guests to enjoy water sports or fishing. There is an abundant
supply of trophy size bass, crappie, sunfish, bluegill and catfish. The lake is roughly 60
% fishing with 40% or less usable by recreational boats. The lake is rarely crowded,
even on Holiday weekends. The waters are clear, cool and calm for canoeing and
kayaking. Houston County Lake was once considered the premier bass fishing lake in
the state of Texas, and is still ranked as most likely to land a lunker bass.


The retreat has plenty of room for your family and guests. The main buildings and 7
homes are situated on 5 +/- acres, and Creekside sits on 8 +/- acres across the lake,

The Owners' Home -

The master bedroom has a private third level balcony. Every bedroom has 32"
televisions with cable. The second bedroom faces the front of the home (street side)
and has a balcony overlooking the front gardens. There is a shared bathroom for the
two upper bedrooms. The Kitchen has all the utensils and appliances one needs to cook
most meals, and a large dining room table to accommodate your group. The counter
tops are all granite tile. This home also includes a utility room with washer and dryer.
Awesome View is located on a very quiet area of the lake with little boat traffic. There
is easy channel access to the main lake that is a 3-minute ride. The home is equipped
with complimentary kayaks.

Henry's Hideaway -

4 bedroom and 2 bath home. 1,300 sqft. with a lake view. While Henry's doesn't sit
directly on the water it has access to a walkway down to its own private section of pier
equipped with kayaks and its own fish cleaning station. Henrys has an assortment of
beautiful decks to spread out on. The upper deck measures 14'x24' accompanied by a
lower 12'x12' area equipped with a firepit and gas grill. The front porch is also a great
spot to sit and enjoy your view of the lake.

Lakeside -

7 bedroom and 4 bath lakeside home. 1,204 sqft. of wrap around covered porch facing
the lake. Lakeside is the largest and most spacious home which accommodates groups
of up to 22. It sits on two lake lots and has a stream that pumps out of the lake. It has a
gazebo and its own boathouse. The covered boathouse offers a slip with tie offs for

Pat's Place -

5/6 bedroom and 4 bath, 2,700 sqft. lakeside home sleeps up to 14 guests. Over 6,370
sqft. of decking and pier. Pats Place has two master bedrooms, each with their own
bathroom and access to its own deck area with table and chairs. The main deck is high
up in the tree canopy which sits 50 + feet above the lake, and less than 100 feet away.
The deck also includes a gas grill, table, fans and lighting. There are two boat slips, a
fish cleaning station and night lights for fishing. All of the bedrooms have 32" flat screen
televisions, ceiling fans and linens. The game room can easily be its own semi-private
bedroom with two futons.

The Gregory -

3 bedroom and 2 bath home, 1500 sqft. with a stairway leading down to the lake.
Beautiful and roomy home with jacuzzi tub, many porches, cabana, gas grill and firepit.
Includes your own private section of pier with a 14'x20' dock to use as well as a fish
cleaning station.

The New House -

This home is a 1,560 sqft. 3 bedroom and 2 bath lake view home with large decks at the
rear of the home. It is situated on a roomy lot.

Creekside -

2 bedroom and 2 bath home on almost 10 acres, can sleep up to 6 guests. It is across
the lake from the rest of the property. It is the perfect place for those who want to spread
out and be secluded. The house is situated on a hill and overlooks a creek. It also has a
deck and a well-lit pathway. The property has several trails, a spring that never runs dry,
and a bridge to get across. There is a road that backs up to the property and takes you
to the lake approximately 7/10ths of a mile away. There is access to the community park
with boat slip, dock, and playground. There is a caliche driveway with room for a trailer.
There is plenty of space for expansion of any kind on this property.

Other Buildings

EventHallThe "Event Building" is a heated and cooled building used for business events, family
reunions, weddings, and more. This space has ceiling fans, several lighting options,
chandeliers and crown molding. The large garage doors can be open for an open-air
venue,or closed for inclement weather.This space has two bathrooms with a large
exterior sink, exterior fans, large firepit, smoker and gas grill upon request. There are
