Stunning traditional in University Park on oversized (80x175) lot. Exceptional Classic Revival design by Michael Lyons AIA, and built by Brad Ellerman 2004-2005. Fantastic floor plan with a timeless feeling of warmth and elegance, combined with comfort and functionality both inside and out.
The University Park couple who commissioned this residence asked Dallas architect, Michael Lyons, to design a historically correct classic revival home. The facade of this classic residence is dominated by a two-story high centered portico with a gable and four Tuscan columns; the brick veneer is laid in the Flemish bond pattern. Architecturally correct columns, elliptical arch windows and a roof line that mirrors the front portico act as the common thread to tie the front and back exteriors together.
The first floor is designed entirely for entertaining with a central cross gallery flaring out at one end with a music area. All living areas of this University Park custom home, including kitchen and dining, connect to the gallery.
The architect designed an “L” shaped granite-topped island to maximize work/counter space in this large, square kitchen. The mahogany half-round is lowered to create the perfect casual dining solution. Embellishments to the woodwork and trim are in keeping with the Classic Revival style of the home. The brick flooring, sans mortar joints, adds warmth. The opposite wall houses a built-in hutch designed by architect Lyons that also serves as a coffee bar and baking center in the home’s kitchen. Adjacent to the kitchen is a large breakfast room and den with fire place and long row of windows opening up to views of the meticulous backyard.
The second floor has three bedrooms all with en-suite baths, a master suite and a large laundry area - all with elevator access. The master bedroom suite encompasses a beautifully designed paneled ceiling bedroom with adjacent private study. The master bathroom with vaulted barrel ceiling has his and her walk-in closets, sinks, and even a television behind the mirror. Her closet also has access directly to the upstairs laundry room, as well as a coffee bar and refrigerator. Gorgeous views of the backyard and pool directly from the Master bedroom windows.
The homeowners requested an exceptional amount of storage in the third floor attic space. To accommodate this request, Lyons created a private stairway up to a T-shaped attic of 935 square feet of clear usable storage.
The backyard is simply stunning. The large lot allows for multiple uses of the beautiful spaces. Features include: Covered seating area, open patio, fireplace, fountain, pool, water features, specimen trees, and pergola.
The three car garage has ample storage and sits beneath the expansive two room quarters.
