Dallas native Angela Thornhill’s transition to residential real estate from the legal field was slow, deliberate and most welcome.
Angela graduated from the University of Oklahoma with an Honors B.A. in history and from the University of Houston Law Center with a J.D. Angela began her career as a real estate estate attorney for the federal government. She then spent five years working for a major telecommunications provider as a corporate real estate manager where her position was comprised of a hybrid of legal and acquisition responsibilities. Invigorated by the part of her job that involved working with brokers and agents to identify and obtain properties for the telecomm’s retail and office, Angela decided to obtain her her real estate salesperson’s license and, later, her broker’s license.
After a short sabbatical when her children were young, Angela debated whether to return to commercial real estate or embark on a career in residential sales. This was the early-to-mid-2000s and home prices in her Lakewood neighborhood were soaring. Intrigued by this growth and passionate for her neighborhood, Angela decided to launch her career as a residential Realtor in 2005 and immediately knew she made the right decision.
Residential real estate has been a perfect fit for Angela because it combines the analytical skills and attention to detail cultivated through her legal training and career with her love of people and desire to guide them through important real estate decisions. Angela approaches her career with the mindset that she is a service-provider to her clients. To her, information is the key - whether it’s pricing and comps, staging advice, neighborhood and school insight, or vendor and contractor recommendations. Angela feels that providing such knowledge and advocating for her clients are her greatest gifts to them.
When not out selling real estate, Angela helps her husband Mark with his company Thornhill Custom Homes, LLC which specializes in high-end energy efficient homes, additions and remodels in Lakewood and Preston Hollow. They live in Forest Hills with their two teenage sons.
Angela is an avid reader, tennis player and movie buff. She is a regular volunteer at Bishop Lynch High School, Church of the Incarnation and the North Texas Food Bank. For many years, she served on the boards of St. John’s Episcopal School’s Parents Association and its Real Estate Committee, as well as the board of Lakewood Early Childhood PTA where she chaired several Lakewood Home Festival positions....
